Latvijas Loto was established in 1972
as the filial of Sojuzsportloto. The
most popular lotteries at that time
were the number lottery Sportloto and
the instant lottery Sprints. In February 2002 "Latvijas Loto" turned 30. The experience accumulated in this period is the invaluable capital in the output of the lottery production, as well as in it's system's safety improvement and also
working with clients.
After regaining of independence of
Latvia Sportloto was reorganized into
the company Latvijas Loto. January 10,
1993 can be considered as the birthday
of the national lottery - on this day
the first draw of number lottery 5/35
took place. Gradually the company introduced
the sales of instant lotteries.
Since 1995, "Latvijas Loto" has been a member of the international organizations INTERTOTO and AELLE (after joining in 2000 - WLA).
"Latvijas Loto" stuff regularly acquires the lottery experience in the countries all around the world, by taking part in the international meetings, conferences and congresses, as well as co-operating with lottery companies in another countries.
On June, 1996 Latvijas Loto was reorganized
into the state joint stock company.
Similarly with the most of the developed
countries of the world, the sole owner
of the Latvian national lottery company
is the state.
On February, 1996 Latvijas Loto signed
a cooperation agreement with the Swedish
company EssNet AB on the installation
and service of on-line lottery system
in Latvia. On-line system in the lottery
sales is used by most of developed countries
of the world since it ensures high level
games and safety of data as well as
increases the speed of exchange of information.

On June 1, 2000 Latvijas Loto signed
an agreement with EssNet AB regarding
purchase of the installed on-line lottery
system. According to the agreement Latvijas
Loto has taken over the operations of
EssNet in Latvia. On January, 2001 Latvijas
Loto started the sales of a new number
lottery KENO. In February 2002 "Latvijas
Loto" introduced in the market its biggest
project - the new lottery "SuperBingo".
It is the TV bingo lottery with half
an hour-long TV draw - the show, where
is possible to win great prizes. The
existing lotteries are constantly updated
to make them more attractive to our
clients. In the nearest future we expect
to significantly increase the number
of sales places with on-line connection.

"Keno" is one of the biggest
lotteries organized by "Latvijas
Loto". "KENO" draws are
taking place twice a day, except Sundays.
According to the game rules, the highest
possible wining in one draw is LVL 240
000.The highest winning in a history
of Latvia amounting to LVL 120 000 was
won in Keno draw on July 29, 2003,,
and the winner was Mr. Pçteris Dþeriòš
from Riga.
In the March of 2004 Latvijas Loto launched several projects: the additional game “Joker” was added to the “SuperBingo” lottery, KENO game was strengthened with a system game and new stakes – Ls 2 and Ls 4. Paying Ls 4 now it is possible to win Ls 240 000.
In April Latvijas Loto started new on-line sports-betting lottery “Sportloto”.
